Sooke is a small town with big shoes to fill. We are one of the last towns in BC with a cohesive identity to yet create and a broader community yet to build. No longer a forestry/fishing town, and currently a bedroom community to Victoria, Sooke is grasping in many directions to find its new path as a distinct ‘town’ within Greater Victoria.
As a news-service to the community of Southern Vancouver Island and the world beyond, MapleLine Magazine is a forum for conversation about the socio-political-economic dynamics of Sooke and what our growth means for the larger footprint of Southern Vancouver Island (Colwood to Port Renfrew on the west coast, and Victoria to Duncan on the east coast).
